IX International Ignacy Jan Paderewski Festival in Warsaw

Traditionally, in the first half of November, concert halls in the capital will resound with the sounds of the works of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, a brilliant pianist, respected composer and one of the main authors of Polish independence. All thanks to the International Festival of IJ Paderewski- an event that over the years has gained great popularity among Warsaw music lovers.

The International IJ Paderewski Festival is the most important cyclical cultural event in Poland, whose mission is to restore, after years of abandonment, the memory of one of the greatest Polish patriots, world-famous pianist, composer, statesman, diplomat, politician and philanthropist - Ignacy Jan Paderewski. A man who more than anyone else contributed to Poland regaining its independence, who, using his incredible musical talent, international fame and extensive influence, led to the rebirth of his homeland.

“Ignacy Jan Paderewski is an absolutely unique figure in the history of our country. He is not only a great artist who has achieved huge international success, he is a hero, a national symbol of whom we should be proud forever. His altruistic attitude is the best example of patriotism,”  says Wiesław Dąbrowski, Director of the International Paderewski Festival.

In the times of the rightly past system, Paderewski's brand was depreciated. Not only his musical legacy has been forgotten, but also the fact that it was Paderewski - the idol of the global audience, who really influenced the interest of the US President and the US government  in the Polish cause after World War I. Using his popularity and widespread recognition, Paderewski, with the support of Woodrow Wilson, led a victorious battle for Polish independence at the Versailles Conference, which, as the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the Second Polish Republic, he later signed with his own signature. This famous document is, of course, the Treaty of Versailles. The primary mission of the International IJ Paderewski Festival is not only to remind the greatest works of the patron of the event, but also to nurture the memory of his immortal achievements for the homeland.

This year's 9th edition of the festival was attended by an array of stars applauded in concert halls around the world, including the Morpheus Saxophone Quartet, the Polish String Quartet from Berlin, the Polish String Quartet Berlin, the Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus im. Jerzy Semkow conducted by Marek Wroniszewski, a piano duo from Ukraine Oleg Kopeluk and Ihor Sediuk, and one of the leading saxophonists with the Piotr Baron Quintet. These are only some of the attractions prepared by the organizers

“As part of this year's festival, we have planned, among others, a concert for young people, in which young winners of music competitions will perform, educational and musical workshops for children prepared by the MUNIANIA Foundation entitled "Moniuszko na uszko". On November 29, 2022, we invite you to the Royal Theater in Łazienki for the performance "Tribute to Modjeska and Paderewski" featuring Maria Niklińska, Dariusz Odija and Michał Szymanowski. In addition, we are planning screenings of films documenting the life and work of Paderewski, as well as thematic exhibitions. Everyone will find something for themselves in our festival.”  – concludes Wiesł aw  Dąbrowski , the originator and Director of MięInternational Paderewski Festival. Festival
